Stakeholder engagement: the fertile edges of early childhood practice | The 2024 June Wangmann Memorial Lecture – Macquarie University
On 25 July 2024, Jennifer Skattebol provided the keynote address at the 2024 June Wangmann Memorial Lecture hosted by Macquarie University. Her keynote was based on learnings from one of the preschools who participated in the Engaging Families in Early Education project. Jennifer outlined the actions taken by educators as they developed the alliances needed to deliver responsive Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) to an underserved community in their postcode. Operating in a context where disparities in access, resources, opportunities, and cultural responsiveness persist, these educators demonstrated how strategic alliance-building with professionals, families, and community members can foster responsive early childhood education ecosystems that move beyond universalist approaches and market competition to better serve all children.
